Career Coaching
Your career is likely to be your biggest lifetime investment in terms of the time and talent you put into it. Capitalising on that investment requires proactive management which can take some time. Time is often a rare commodity for busy executives and professionals, this is where career coaching can help.
Career coaching is generally viewed as a collaborative and personalised process. We work together to help you explore and identify where you are in your career, clarify where you want to go, and put together a plan to help you reach your professional goals.
People who may benefit from career coaching include:
- Job-seekers throughout the job-seeker continuum, from students seeking focus, to experienced job-seekers searching for new challenges, to older workers completing their careers.
- People who are lost, confused, frustrated or stuck — whether they have a job or are looking for one — often seek out the help of a career coach.
- People who have been downsized, merged and acquired may find that they need help with their career transitions.
- People who just want to take the time to ask questions and the chance on a new direction also benefit from career coaching.
How does the career coaching process work? In order to provide the right career direction, Melita starts by assessing interests, values and personalities. The process commonly involves the completion of a series of surveys/assessments (these generally take an hour or so to complete), as well as a series of conversations, which can be face to face or via phone/email. Enabling Melita to gain an understanding of work tasks and industries that best suit the individual and ultimately identifying careers and courses most likely to suit and enjoy leading to a fulfilling career.
Questions which you will be able to answer as a result of the career coaching process
- Who am I? To gain a comprehensive assessment of your unique skills, values, abilities, interests and aptitudes and how these link with your personal work-life experiences
- Where am I going? To identify suitable career options and learning/work opportunities
- How will I get there? To develop a career-life map and identify and deploy strategies to access learning/work opportunities to get where you want to go.
What outcomes can I expect? Melita uses a number of tools and processes, depending on the goals and needs of the individual, to ensure there is a clear outcome plan which can be put into action immediately with options and alternatives.
