Wendy Holdaway

Wendy is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsed as a provider of psychology services under Medicare. Wendy is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), an associate member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and is currently completing clinical endorsement through the AHPRA registrar program.

Wendy has been a Registered Nurse for 19 years and she has a strong interest in health-related psychology. Wendy works with adults of all ages who are experiencing a range of emotional and psychological concerns in the context of preparing, adjusting and rehabilitation from illness, injury, and surgical and other medical procedures. Some of Wendy’s interest areas in health psychology are; perinatal and postnatal stages of life, chronic pain management, oncology, end of life anxiety, health anxiety, and assessment and treatment of pre and post bariatric and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Wendy has several years experience in screening for cosmetic surgery suitability. Wendy has a deep understanding of procedural considerations and physical recovery from surgeries/procedures, and also great insight into the emotional and psychological experience of clients seeking and undergoing cosmetic procedures and how best to support optimal outcomes and identify potential risk.

Wendy also has extensive experience working with residential aged care facilities to determine quality and compliance with Accreditation Standards and the Aged Care Act, and leading investigations into critical incidents and mandatory reports. Drawing on this experience, Wendy works with older adults to support positive ageing and empower individuals through life transitions.

Wendy is committed to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, respected and accepted. Wendy is dedicated to helping clients grow, develop and strengthen the skills they need to move confidently toward the change they desire. Practicing within an evidence-based framework including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness strategies, Wendy believes in tailoring therapy to the individual need.
